Hootie Johnson OUT---Billy Payne to take over at Augusta National! Does this mean Lou Holtz and Steve Spurrier will not be able to get in to Augusta?

Billy Payne, who brought the Olympic Games to Atlanta in 1996, will today be named chairman of the Augusta National Golf Club.
He replaces William “Hootie” Johnson, 75, who has served as chairman since 1998.
During his tenure Johnson has lengthened and toughened the golf course in an effort to prevent it from becoming obsolete by today’s long-hitting professionals. He was also embroiled in a nasty public feud in 2003 with activist Martha Burk over the club’s lack of women members.
Johnson joined the club in 1968 and became vice president in 1975. The University of South Carolina graduate retired in 1975 as chairman of the executive committee at the Bank of America.
Johnson’s resignation signifies the latest youth movement at the club. Longtime Masters competition committee chairman Will Nicholson, 77, stepped aside last week. He was replaced by Fred Ridley, 53, a former U.S. Amateur champion and president of the USGA.
