Maybe if Tom Osborne would have thrown the ball a little more, Nebraska fans would have voted him into the Governor's office!

In good ole Omaha, Nebraska today, retired football coach-turned-congressman Tom Osborne tried to take down current Gov. Dave Heineman today and lost in the Republican primary!

You know, you would think3 National Championships that the man brought to that state of Nebraska would be reason enough to elect him Governor, but I guess it just was not meant to be! Even though he brought the state of Nebraska 3 National Championships, were Nebraska fans still disgruntled all along due to having to watch "boring" football? When I say "boring," I mean.......having to watch football games with nothing but RUN,RUN,RUN,RUN,RUN the football and maybe.....what....3 pass attempts a whole game?

What did we Learn Today:
1. If you are a football coach and would like to run for Governor one day, you better call more passing plays than running plays.
2. How in the world did the Tom Osborne ever build a football program at the University of Nebraska? Who in their right mind would want to go to school there?
3. Tom Osborne lost to Dave Heineman. I understand it all know, Nebraska voters thought Dave's last name was Heisman, not Heineman!

Yeah seriously. What did they hang? Like 50-something on Florida? Those were not bring offenses. In fact, they were awe-inspiring.

Osborne's Nebraska teams did put a lot points on the board. However, Reese is right in his assertion that they hardly ever passed. Whether or not a high-scoring offense that does not pass is exciting is in the eye of the beholder. As an aside, I would pit that 1995 team with Lawrence Phillips, Tommy Frazier, Mike Minter, the Peter brothers, etc. against anyone.
