How Much Will Clemson Miss This Guy?
By the end of his career, there were a lot of Clemson fans who were glad to see Charlie Whitehurst go. Glad you say?? Yes ..... believe it or not, they probably took a swig of Steve Spurrier kool-aid and took a hit off of Syvelle Newton's bong first before they said it, but they did say that they were glad to see Charlie go! I'm proud to say that I was not one of those. No offense to Will Proctor. He'll be a great QB for us this year and may very well fit into the Rob Spence system better than Charlie however ........ If we run into a game as we did last year (Miami) where our short/quick screen plays and running game are stopped, we have to have a QB that can throw it and throw it well. (Not saying that Will can't throw good, I'm sure he can, but I doubt if he can throw as good as Charlie could)
Now hopefully...... between our Defense being so strong, our running game being solid, and just our overall system working and clicking better this year, hopefully it won't come down throwing the ball 53 times to try and win a game this year like Charlie had to against Miami.
What I'm saying is this. Even though Proctor might be a better fit for Rob Spence, and even though.... let's say Proctor is faster and smarter than Charlie, if we do run into a game or two like the Miami one, and we are forced to throw between 40 to 50 times ..... Clemson fans might then realize how much Charlie meant to our team!

Clemson will miss him tremendously. Watch them lose 4 ballgames this year simply due to poor QB play.

inept...god we suck. it's going to be a long season. I just hope we can find a way to beat Fl. Atlantic and get the season off to a good start b/c you know we'll lose the next 11 games.

Clemson will still have a good year and win 9 maybe even 10 games but I dont see them winning their division in the ACC and that is because of QB. Lots of Clemson fans were upset with Whitehurst but I think they will realize what they are missing this year. Do you actually think Tommy or Spence would have played the inferior talent at QB? If Proctor was better he would have played....he wasnt.

The scrimmage wasn't so much the offense not performing as much as it was our defense living up to its hype. The clemson defense is where the best football will be played this year, we got studs at almost every position on defense and it starts with Gaines Adams. When it comes to scrimmages in camp, the defense usually always wins cause offense is harded to get into a rythm than the defense. But yes we will miss CW's leadership and poise but Proctor fits into this offense better than CW did. They both bring something different to the position. I'm confident though as a 5th year QB he'll handle himself well on the field as well as off.

I hope you're not right Reese. Proctor is good. From what I heard, Spence wanted to start him early in the season last year.... Politics does play a large role in college football whether we want to admit it or not....Cole Chason 117th in the country....good example.
