Even Though Willy Korn Threw 3 Interceptions This Weekend .... He Could Still Start For South Carolina

Yes, believe it or not, the kid in the picture above is already better than South Carolina quarterback Blake Mitchell. Carolina fans over the weekend were running their mouth saying "Will Korn sucks, he threw 3 interceptions." One word that I have to say to that - bitter. And understandbly so.

If you honestly believe South Carolina QB Blake Mitchell is a better QB than Will Korn right now, you are dead wrong. Thing about it is, there's a great chance that Will Korn may already be better than Will Proctor at Clemson, but I won't go there. He's definitely a better athlete than Mitchell is and some will say that he already throws a better ball than Blake Mitchell.
Contributor Joshua Richards told me last night that Korn doesn't have that strong of an arm, and he doesn't think he's that good. Joshua Richards also went on to say that Korn reminds him of Phil Petty - he can only throw lob passes. Joshua....just because he threw 3 interceptions yesterday doesn't mean that much, that's only one game, he'll probably go the rest of the year without throwing another interception

I think you and I can agree on that Contributor Joshua Richards is a buffoon. Well, actually he also said last night that California and West Virginia will play in the national championship this year as well. It's okay, he's a South Carolina grad, I'm sure he was "high" on something when he said that. What do you think about Will Korn?
Could Will Korn Start Over Blake Mitchell Right Now?
Yes
No

Reese this is one of the most idiotic statements you have made. I would much rather have Blake Mitchell start instead of Will Proctor. I think Korn would have a better chance of starting for Clemson instead of South Carolina right now.

Korn is good but he is no better then Matt Stafford was last year and Stafford is 3rd string at Georgia. I know it was just trying to be a cheap shot but shows a pretty big lack of intelligence to actually think that a high school senior could start over I believe the guy who is the 2nd or 3rd returning passer in the SEC.

Kirk, the votes are 5-0, looks like you are in the minority as of right now, it's okay though. Why didn't you vote?

I agree with Kirk. Korn def. has a much better chance to start at Clemson. Let's be real, Korn would be 3rd string at USC.

I was there, and the kid is awesome. I think the interceptions came because he has never played a defense that fast/talented. Not to mention the kid is 17 yrs old, playing for the first time on National Television on a blazing hot Saturday (Friday nights aren't normally that hot). Either way his mechanics are incredible and this kid is going to be awesome. He is also a duel threat. Clemson's future is bright. The other story of the Byrnes game has to be Stanley (Buster) Hunter. This kid reminds me of Keith Adams. Byrnes is loaded this year and if they can get past the Reservation, the fifth ring in a row is waiting.

Could he start over Blake Mitchell? With a college spring under his belt and an offense learned... yes. This kid is great and is probably the most talented QB in SC right now (college and definitely HS). I know this was just a ploy to get some USC comments, and good job. I may have to eat these words, but I think Proctor will have a better year than Mitchell. Everybody is expecting loads of interceptions.... we'll see. We get to see Mitchell on Thursday!!!! Finally some football......

Whoa! Stop right there .... young man Joshua probably doesn't even know what the Elite 11 camp is. This piece obviously went well over his head a long time ago.

Black Widow.... you got me. My small mind could not grasp the complex issues Reese wrote about. Let me try though... =)

Ok, he made the ridiculous comment that Korn could start at USC this year. (I'm the bufoon?) Basically, that was his point. No more, no less. I think he ran out of things to write about so he decided to attack me. But I think I got the main point. The main point was to generate a little friendly banter from people on here. I hope he actualy doesn't believe Korn could start for USC or Clemson..... maybe Furman or Wofford would have been a better argument.

It looks like Michael Reese tried to revert to childish name calling. A questionable tactic considering I am sure all of these guys are friends. I love childish games so, here it goes.

Raise your hand if your profile picture looks gay! Keep it up.

still up.

just a little longer.

Ok Mr. Reese you can put your hand down now.

Willy B. Korn or (aka Joshua Richards),

Pretty funny, but I guarantee you everyones still laughing at you for saying West Virginia and California will play against each other in the national championship! I mean honestly, what have you been smokin?

Is Will Korn a good QB? Yes Is he any better then Matthew Stafford or a Tim Tebow? NO Both of those guys are true freshman and will not be starting the season for their teams.

Im not sure very many who participaed int his poll have either played football or can be objective. Willy Korn (who is bound for Clemson in case you missed the game on Saturday) will have a learning curve when he gets to college. Now is he more talented then Mitchell? Yes but Mitchell would be starting over Korn.

Also IMO if you feel he would start for South Carolina then you should feel he should start for Clemson. Proctor has not played nearly as much as Mitchell and doesnt have the numbers that Mitchell put up either. Of course I understand that looking through Orange colored glasses can blind some of you.

I would be thrilled if Willy Korn was to come to South Carolina but it is pretty stupid to sit here and say that a guy who didnt look dominating in the game on Saturday would start over a guy who threw for over 2,000 yds last year and is one of the SEC's leading passers returning.

Of course your favorite team is Clemson and I dont expect you to actually be rational.

PS (I didnt vote because if you knew where I worked then you would understand how busy a time of year it is right now)

Clemson coaches did not even offer smelly a ship. He came to Clemson at camp and would have commited along with his teammate. Clemson coaches were not impressed w/ Smelley so they offered michael wade. i am not worried about smelley. As for you joshua, the Glades team secondary probably has more talent then the gators and his receivers were like wofford going up against Miami db's. Korn will be a stud and i think he would start for Clemson this year.

Willy has won every QB competition he has been in the last year. He set records at the elite 11 camp and broke others by Matt Leinart. (Tim Tebow went last year....) I'm sorry but your, "he doesn't have a good arm argument" doesn't fly. Yes he didn't have a great game last Saturday against the number 5 team in the country, but I still think Clemson fans can be excited.

Josh I think I disagree with you on the Phil Petty thing. Maybe I'm letting my school pride get to me but... he was a great QB. He didn't have an offensive line and Holtz was openly blaming games on him. Not a good situation. Two cents is up...
Have a good one.

Korn might have broken some records at the elite 11 but the the consensus was that John Brantley was the best overall QB there. Of course Korn did receive the award for most college ready or most likely to play in college first.

Brantley was #1 on the USC board but hated Columbia because of the heat.....so he goes to Austin, Texas?????

Yep.... still nothing about a weak arm though. Columbia is more humid than Austin... different kind of heat. I can't say I blame him :) Have a good one!

Considering Spurrier is arguably the best QB coach in history, I WOULD be afraid of Smelley.

Smelley broke all of Brodie Croyle's records in Alabama, and if Spurrier thinks the kid is good, then he is good.

As for this blog thing about little Korny starting over Blake Mitchell that is a huge laugher. Blake Mitchell was the 2nd or 3rd leading passer in the SEC last year with a 64% completion percentage, along those lines. If you think a kid STILL IN HIGH SCHOOL could start over Mitchell with a year under his belt in Spurrier's system then you need to put down the orange kool-aid.

Korn has a much higher chance of starting over Proctor. Has Proctor produced ANYTHING other than imaginary numbers in Clemsux fan's heads?
